The Campfire
'Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.' [Proverbs 3: 5 - 6]Most people reading this will have heard or read these 'proverbs' before.
For many years they have been somewhere in my thoughts, sometimes more than others but often there.
There is a lot we could say about them and everyone probably has a different thought depending on what glasses you are wearing but I want to just think about the second part now for a short while...
'...and do not lean on your own understanding.'We hear a lot of requirements for our Christian life and walk. A lot of law. We pursue much in the way of 'understanding', dedicated study, Bible college, read loads of books, attend Bible study, spend a lot of time in contemplation of the word or the original. We work real hard on our 'trust' and we try real hard to do it 'with all (our) heart'. We work on our understanding and approach it as a path to the with all our heart trust.
All these things are valid, all worthy but not where we should 'lean'.
This is a new blog which I am committing to writing because friends have asked for an insight into my thoughts and contemplation. I am a bit scared because I must warn you that it is possible that what I share here may rock your boat, especially if your boat is the 'SS Religious'.
So, will this blog be a new venue of understanding? I hope not because I want it to be a place of revelation, a place of disclosure, a place where understanding is replaced with truth, and study ceases and disclosure occurs. What am I talking about?
Here is a verse for your contemplation...
Jesus is speaking of the Holy Spirit and He says...
'He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you'. [John 16: 14 - 15]Disclosure is not the domain of the few, not the domain of the student or the teacher, disclosure is for YOU. The Holy Spirit has a job and He wants to do it with you; His job is to disclose Christ, and in the disclosure He is disclosing 'all things that the Father has'. Pretty immense hey?
Let me tell about the campfire. You may not be into camping but most have seen or sat round a campfire at some time in their lives.
The night is dark, maybe a little cold. We get the fire going and we all take a position around it. It warms us, it gives light, it's comforting, and it's powerful, and it's beautiful. There is an incredible beauty within the campfire. The way it moves and glows, the effect it has upon everybody sitting around.
As I sit I have a view of the campfire, I see its beauty and feel its warmth. You are sitting somewhere else around the campfire, you see something different, you have a different view, you see something that I don't see.
I can share what I see and you can share what you see.
We all have a campfire. Some are up close, others a long way away but we all have one.
I love campfires so I choose to be up close, I like it melting my socks.
You might sit back but it makes no difference the campfire is still there.
Our campfire is Jesus and the Holy Spirit throws on the wood. It is an inexhaustible supply.
So this blog is simply my view of the campfire that is Jesus. And you have a view too so please share. Share by commenting on this blog, share by emailing me, share we I see you if I do, share when we church together.
There's another subject but my view of church is the campfire, we all sit around and share our view of our campfire that is Jesus, fueled by the great discloser of 'all things of the Father'.
You know that Jesus is the fullness of God, and we are complete in Him.
That's enough to begin.
Have a blessed day.
